School Dog
We are excited to be trialling Winnie, our school dog, following feedback from pupils in the recent survey. Winnie is a Shih Poo, a gentle, intelligent and friendly breed that is also hypoallergenic, meaning she sheds very little hair and dander and is more suitable for those with allergies.
Winnie will always be supervised by a trained adult and will never be left alone with children. She has been carefully chosen for her calm nature and suitability for a busy school environment.
Winnie absolutely loves being part of a community and thrives on gentle interactions. She is happiest when chasing after her ball in the playground, being patted by those around her, or receiving the occasional treat for good behaviour.
School dogs are known to bring many benefits, including helping children feel calmer, building empathy and responsibility, encouraging positive behaviour, and even boosting confidence in reading. We are looking forward to seeing the positive impact Winnie will bring to our school community.
