Family Forum – 1st November

We would like to invite parents and carers to our Family Forum on Tuesday 1st November from 2pm-3pm.

We will be discussing how we work together to embed our shared vision for Bevington and how to shape our place as part of the community here in North Kensington

The materials for the session are attached in advance for reference.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible to add your ideas to this very important piece of work.

We share our aspiration to be the number 1 school in Kensington and Chelsea with all the children

As parents will know we are already one of the top 10 schools in the local authority and we continue to aspire to do even better. We know that the children at Bevington are amazing and they are a credit to us all. We have shared  with them all 4 of our School Improvement Targets in class and assembly so they know we are all working together to achieve them. Our child friendly aims are:

We want as many of our children as possible achieving higher outcomes by the end of Year 6 and the children know that is only possible if they start right now.

We have reminded the children  that they need to be in school and on time everyday. Attendance and punctuality are at an all time high for the school so please keep this up!

We have asked the children to tell their friends and relatives what a great school Bevington and we hope that you will do that too so we can make sure the school remains full.

Finally we have asked the children  to think about how they can show in their actions and deeds that they are living up to our vision of smart, positive pupils who feel like they belong here.

We will have designed a display right outside of our assembly hall to remind all children each and every day. Come and have a look when you are in school.

New gallery and museum open in Ladbroke Grove School!

The last week of half term was a very exciting time  at Bevington as we had an art exhibition and gallery open in Year 6 and Year 5 opened their great Barrier Reef Museum in the middle hall. We also produced over 300 works of art during our art morning meaning we really have filled the school with artists!

Thank you to all the children who worked so hard to make all this possible and to the staff and parents who visited and appreciated all of their amazing learning on display. Particular thanks to Asal in Year 5 who played the piano in the museum so spectacularly and confidently.

Children in Need – Date for your diary

On Friday 18th November we will be having a non- uniform day to support the  Children in Need charity. Please send your child to school in their own clothes on that day. The theme of the fundraising  is to “Show your spots and raise lots!” so if you have any spotty clothing at home please send them in this. If you don’t then please send them in any of their own clothes that are suitable for school. We are asking for a 50p donation from each child and we hope to raise the most money in Ladbroke Grove to help this worthy cause! Thank you for your support.

Year 6 class assembly and Rainforest Gallery

Year 6 invited their parents and families in to enjoy their assembly on our value of unity this Thursday. They also invited parents into the classroom to visit the rainforest gallery they had collated from all of their topic work this half term. There were beautiful paintings, great  examples of writing and music. Well done Year 6!

Helping your child at home

Thank you to all the families who attended parents’ evening this week. There was 100% turn out so every teacher has now met all of you over the course of this week. These meetings are hugely valuable for your child, and for us, in understanding them better and we appreciate your time.
Teachers gave out a number of resources on the night and the English ones are attached below in case you would like another copy

Parent Questionnaire

We will be asking all of our families to complete a questionnaire during this week’s parents’ evenings about how they feel about the school and whether they are happy with the service that we provide to all of our stakeholders. Please look out for our prefects and school councillors in the main reception area who will have copies of the questionnaire for you to fill in. We really value your feedback so that we can continue to improve the school.

Come and see our new website

We are officially launching our new website this week and we would like to invite parents to come to the ICT room on Tuesday and Wednesday night where our prefects will be around to show you all the features of the site, including our new class pages.

Once again we would like to thank everyone who has given their time and energy to make this all work and we hope you are enjoying the new style calendar and news updates.

Amazing Attendance

Well done to all children and parents for your contribution to amazing attendance this week. Our school attendance for the week was just under 98%, and punctuality was also excellent.

Particular well done to Chestnut Class who achieved 100% attendance!
