Oh what a lovely war!

From the Great Escape to D-Day this topic has really caught the imagination of all the children in year 3 and 4. They have been using the War as a stimulus for their writing and have produced really high quality narrative and poetry, art, drama and computing learning from this. Today they  have enjoyed the chance to be evacuees and immerse themselves in the full experience, complete with air raid warnings ( sorry year 2!). There costumes were amazing and they looked just like they had left home to escape the Blitz. There is no substitute for getting in character if you want to feel empathy for your subject matter. They have been so infectious in their enthusiasm that older brothers and sisters have gone out of their way to contribute to the learning too. What a great example of how Bevington learners can work together.
