Supporting your child’s learning

At Bevington Primary School, we believe learning is a journey that continues long after the school day ends.
The small things you do at home can make a big difference to your child’s progress, confidence, and love of learning.

🗣️ Talk & Listen

💬 Why it matters: Conversations help your child reflect and make connections.

Ask questions like:

What was the most interesting thing you learned today?

Can you teach me something you did in class today?

Which part of the day made you feel proud of yourself?

If you could change one thing about today's lessons, what would it be?

Who did you work with today, and what did you do together?

✔️ Tip: Listen without rushing to respond – it shows you value their thoughts.

📚 Read Together

📖 Why it matters: Reading is one of the most powerful ways to boost learning – for all ages.

Ways to enjoy reading:

  • Listen to your child read aloud

  • Read to them (yes, even older children!)

  • Discuss characters and make predictions

  • Praise effort, not just accuracy

  • Ask questions to guide thinking instead of giving answers
