Enrichment Offer:
At Bevington Primary School, enrichment is an important part of school life. We want every child to benefit from a broad range of experiences that complement our curriculum, help them discover new interests and talents, and give them opportunities to develop confidence, independence, creativity and a strong sense of belonging.
Our enrichment offer takes place throughout the school day and beyond it. It includes clubs, sport, music, arts and culture, educational visits, visitors, performances, pupil leadership, community activities, outdoor learning and opportunities to develop wider life skills.
We want children to leave Bevington having experienced much more than the academic curriculum alone. Through enrichment, pupils have opportunities to broaden their horizons, develop new skills, work alongside others and take part in experiences they may not otherwise encounter.
Our Enrichment Action Plan
We continually review and develop our enrichment offer so that it reflects the interests and needs of our pupils and provides increasingly broad opportunities for children across the school.
Families can view our current Enrichment Action Plan to see our priorities for developing enrichment at Bevington, how we are widening participation and the areas we are continuing to develop.

Breakfast Club at Bevington
Our Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am each morning and provides children with a calm, welcoming and positive start to their school day.
Children are offered a healthy breakfast, which may include low-sugar cereals, wholewheat bagels, fresh fruit and water. Alongside breakfast, children have time to socialise, play and take part in a range of activities before lessons begin.
Breakfast Club is an important part of our wider school offer. It gives children opportunities to build friendships, develop independence and communication skills and strengthen their sense of belonging to our school community.
Breakfast Club is free for all pupils attending from 8.10am. Parents and carers must still book their child’s place in advance through MCAS, including where there is no charge for the session. This allows us to plan appropriate staffing, catering and supervision each morning.
Children attending before 8.10am are charged at the rates below.
At 8.40am, children are taken to their classrooms ready to begin the school day.
Cost per session
- Nursery and Reception, arriving before 8.10am: £2.00
- Years 1 to 6, arriving before 8.10am: £1.50
- All pupils attending from 8.10am: Free
All Breakfast Club places, including free places from 8.10am, must be booked through MCAS.
Extended Day at Bevington
Our Extended Day provision supports working families while also giving children further opportunities to play, create, socialise, develop their interests and try new activities beyond the school day.
Extended Day runs from 3.20pm until 5.45pm and is led by members of the Bevington team.
Children have access to a varied programme which may include arts and crafts, construction, games, reading and storytelling, creative activities, outdoor play, physical activities and opportunities to spend time with friends.
These experiences form part of children’s wider development. They provide opportunities to build confidence and resilience, strengthen friendships and develop communication, teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Snacks
Children staying for a club or Extended Day should bring a healthy snack from home to eat at 3.20pm. This might include fresh fruit, sliced vegetables, plain crackers or another simple healthy snack to have with water.
Please do not send any food containing nuts. Bevington Primary School is a strictly nut-free school.

Children remaining at school beyond 4.30pm must normally have been booked into the second session in advance.
Extended Day finishes at 5.45pm and children must be collected promptly.
Inclusion and Access
We want as many children as possible to be able to participate in the wider opportunities available at Bevington. Where a child has additional needs, we will consider what reasonable arrangements can be made to support their participation safely and successfully.
Parents and carers of children who receive 1:1 support during the school day should speak with the Inclusion Team or a member of the School Leadership Team before booking Extended Day. This allows us to consider the child’s individual needs, staffing arrangements and any reasonable adjustments that may be required.
Children attending Extended Day are expected to follow the Bevington Behaviour Expectations. Where behaviour presents an ongoing concern or affects the safety or wellbeing of other children or staff, the school may review a child’s place within the provision. Decisions about attendance will be made by the Head of School following appropriate discussion with the family.
After-School Clubs
Our after-school club programme gives pupils opportunities to explore new interests, develop existing talents and enjoy experiences alongside children from across the school.
Across the year, we aim to provide a broad and varied programme. This may include sport and physical activity, music, art and creativity, performance, STEM, cooking and wider life skills, languages, games, nature and the outdoors, debating, leadership and other activities that respond to the interests of our pupils.
Our club offer changes throughout the year so that children have opportunities to try different things. We also listen to pupils, families and staff when developing the programme and look for opportunities to introduce activities children may not otherwise have the chance to experience.
Healthy Snacks
Children attending an after-school club should bring a healthy, nut-free snack to eat beforehand. This could include fruit, chopped vegetables, plain crackers or another simple healthy snack.
Crisps, chocolate bars and sugary treats should not be brought into school as an after-school snack, in line with our approach to healthy eating.
Children participating in sports clubs should bring their PE kit or any other clothing specified for the activity.
Booking Clubs
Our after-school club programme is shared with families at the beginning of each term.
Registration opens online through MCAS at a published time. Places are limited and are usually allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so families are encouraged to book promptly.
The range of clubs available will vary between terms. Some activities are led by Bevington staff, while others may be delivered in partnership with external organisations, coaches or members of our wider school community.
Clubs are subject to sufficient uptake and may not run where there are too few bookings to make the activity viable.
Inclusion and Participation
We want enrichment at Bevington to be accessible and engaging for all pupils. We recognise that children can experience different barriers to taking part and will work with families wherever possible to consider how these can be overcome.
Parents and carers of children who receive 1:1 support during the school day should speak with the Inclusion Team or a member of the School Leadership Team before booking a club. This allows appropriate planning to take place and helps us consider any reasonable adjustments or additional arrangements that may be needed.
Children are expected to follow the Bevington Behaviour Expectations during all clubs and enrichment activities. Where there are concerns, these will be managed in line with our Behaviour Policy. In some circumstances, a child’s participation in a particular activity may need to be reviewed by the Head of School.
Our Wider Enrichment Offer
After-school clubs are only one part of enrichment at Bevington.
Throughout their time with us, pupils experience a wide range of opportunities within the curriculum, throughout the school day and beyond it. We want enrichment to be a normal and meaningful part of every child’s experience of school rather than something separate from their everyday learning.
Our wider enrichment offer includes:
- educational visits and experiences linked to learning
- visitors and workshops which bring different areas of the curriculum to life
- sport, competitions and opportunities for physical activity
- music, singing, performance and opportunities to perform to an audience
- art, creativity and cultural experiences
- outdoor learning and opportunities to engage with nature
- pupil leadership and responsibilities across the school
- opportunities to contribute to the school and wider community
- assemblies, celebrations and special events
- opportunities to develop communication, teamwork, independence and wider life skills
- experiences which introduce children to new interests, careers, places and possibilities
Our approach reflects the broad areas of enrichment promoted nationally, including arts and culture, sport and physical activity, nature and the outdoors, civic engagement, and wider life and future skills.
We want these experiences to help children discover what they enjoy and what they are good at, build confidence and resilience, form positive relationships and develop skills that will support them throughout their lives.
We also recognise that the opportunities children experience outside school can vary considerably. Our role is therefore to provide a rich and ambitious offer which gives every pupil opportunities to participate, discover their strengths and experience something new.
We regularly review participation across our enrichment offer and consider where barriers may exist for individual pupils or groups of children. This helps us develop an offer that is increasingly inclusive and ensures that enrichment is not limited to those who already have access to similar opportunities outside school.
Pupil voice also plays an important part in shaping our enrichment offer. We want children to have opportunities to tell us what they enjoy, what they would like to experience and where they would like to develop new skills or interests.
Our enrichment offer will continue to develop in response to our curriculum, our school priorities and, importantly, the interests and needs of the children and community we serve.
